The number of Panalpina locations globally with GDP certification now stands at 32.

Many pharmaceutical companies require that Panalpina's business units that handle their products are certified according to Good Distribution Practice (GDP), a set of guidelines for the proper distribution of medicinal products for human use. Today, 70 Panalpina business units around the world are GDP-compliant. Out of these locations, 30 are GDP-certified and this number is on the increase.

In an increasingly digital and automated freight forwarding environment, Panalpina is using Validaide, an open online platform it has co-developed, to qualify its key suppliers. The 50th site went live with JDA WMS in France. Shortly before that, JDA WMS was implemented at facilities in the USA and Belgium. At Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport, Panalpina now operates two facilities, separated by a runway. One is dedicated exclusively to healthcare products, the other to perishables and general cargo. It's like having two bedrooms in a marriage, separated by a long corridor with lots of shiny lights on the sides. An odd idea, you may say, but it can actually make perfect sense (and save marriages).

Panalpina Egypt has moved its country head office and 100% of its Cairo operations to the newly developed Cairo Cargo City at Cairo International airport. Panalpina is the first freight forwarding company to have its head office directly at the airport.

Bruno is pretty upbeat these days. A few weeks ago, he reached an agreement with Belgium-based medical device company IBA. Panalpina will soon be offering comprehensive value-added warehousing and global transportation services to IBA from its hub at Brussels Airport. Brussels is Panalpina’s first station to have obtained IATA's CEIV Pharma certificate, which is becoming the benchmark for air freight related cross-dock operations for healthcare products. After Belgium’s Federal Agency of Medical and Health Products (FAMHP), IATA is the second organization to have certified Panalpina Brussels from a healthcare perspective.
Brazil receives exceptionally large, urgent pharmaceutical shipment

Panalpina recently delivered an exceptionally large shipment of pharmaceutical products to Brazil. A cargo plane took off from Frankfurt airport carrying 187 pallets of temperature-sensitive cargo, destined for Brasília International Airport.
